Kangaroo Island Propolis is produced by one of the purest strains of Ligurian bees in the world. Kangaroo Island was declared a Ligurian Bee Sanctuary in 1885, and the island’s bee population remains isolated from many of the common pests and diseases affecting bee colonies elsewhere in the world.
Our propolis is harvested from Australian hives, with a majority sourced from Kangaroo Island, renowned for its unique and pristine flora.
Bee Healthy Australia is the only facility in Australia dedicated to processing and refining propolis. We operate a privately funded laboratory equipped with High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) technology to support our ongoing research and quality assurance programs.
Research conducted on Kangaroo Island propolis identified 78 unique compounds associated with antioxidant properties and other naturally occurring bioactive compounds. These unique characteristics are believed to result from the isolated Australian flora, particularly native sedge grasses found on Kangaroo Island.
